Bill and Mary Kircher started Lakeland Confectionary Supply in 1975, shortly after being a Breyer’s ice cream scoop shop owner. With the many contacts they maintained over the years in the ice cream industry they began establishing relationships with ingredient manufacturers in the Northeast an Mid Atlantic region of the United States. In the early years they were supplying local Breyer’s Retail locations with cones, cups, sprinkles and fudges. Bill and Mary’s knowledge of micro batching soon became a huge asset to many mom and pop ice cream batch makers. They worked closely with their customers and introduced them to new lines of bases, extracts and ingredients from companies like Star Kay White, Limpert Brothers and Virginia Dare Extract Company.
From the late 1970’s thru the 1990’s Lakeland Confectionary Supply grew as they serviced Dairy Queens, Jersey Shore Shop owners, and out of state customers, they gained many customers and fostered strong relationships by being an active supplier member with NICRA (National Ice Cream Association) and NEICRA ( New England Ice Cream Association) by attending the annual conventions over the decades. Mary also being active with NEICRA as a past President of the Supplier Board helped them connect with national ingredient manufacturers and build their product offerings over the years.
In 2000 Lakeland Confectionary Supply was sold to one of their customers Ciao Bella Gelato Company. In 2009 Ciao Bella Gelato Company sold Lakeland Confectionary Supply to the Street Family, who has been in the ice cream manufacturing and retail industry since 1991. Today Bill and Mary Kircher continue to work closely with the Street Family as they continue to expand the family owned business by introducing new product lines and shipping to all 50 states and as well as internationally.
